One customer asked us to develop automation for him to control a rather specific 4m diameter dome with two flaps driven by different 12 and 230V motors. In addition, he wanted redundant limit switches to stop the movement of the shutters when they opened or closed. It turned out that we could use about 80 percent of our standard wiring for the domes and that the control software could handle such a drive arrangement without problems. I recommend this solution to other astronomers with similar domes.
