Hi Scopedome team
on my 2M dome, i often get issues with a weak signal error to the shutter. I am connecting the dome to driver via ethernet, and the connection to the dome itself seems solid. But i get errors when trying to open/close the shutter – there is often a 'bad link’ error in the driver window. Command window shows message 'arduino error’ and 'connect to card’ messages. How can i troubleshoot this? Often when I powercycle a few times, the problem is solved, but always seems to come back. Sometimes i have to rotate the dome a few times before the shutter reacts – could this be an issue with the slip ring power?
Second question: i have a UPS inline with recommendations (600VA pure sine etc). How can i hook this up to the dome so it knows when power fails? Is this a function of the driver? I saw that there is an analog input pin (i think 14) on the card , but I am not sure how this is meant to be used to enable the dome to shut shutter if the power fails.
Thank you
Klaus
Please provide the serial number of the dome.
Problems with ShutterLink may be caused by poor power conduction at the slip ring. I advise cleaning it first and adjusting the roller pressure.
In card Manual on page 24 you have diagram ilustrated how to connect UPS to the card. Simply you should connect 230V sensor input to your main grid.
Thank you for the tips. I will have to check the serial number, as the site is remote, and i never knew we had a serial number ;)! We bought through Primalucelab, and i just saw in another post that there is a sticket somewhere i need to check. Will do asap.
Right now, the shutter is completely dead in terms of communication. – this has never happened before. Normally if i rotate the dome a few times, the power is fine – usually i notice that the shutter part may not light up (power LED) until i rotate the dome a few times, especially if it has not been used in a while (e.g. winter). However this time, the power led on the shutter is solid red, but the logs say:

Should i plan to try re-pairing the bluetooth between shutter and dome? Unfortunately as i mentioned, the site is remote, and I will need to make time to go up and try and fix the issue, so i want to have the right plan to have the best chance of fixing.
Re UPS – thanks – that is very helpful. So if i understand it right, the sensor will sense if the mains is cut, but will not measure the battery level of the UPS battery… i thought it might be possibel to measure the battery level and shut down when it goes low. I assume that instead it will shut down everything when the power is lost instead.
about UPS battery voltage measure – look on diagram on page 20 in Card Manual
As for problems with the radio connection – I would advise you to make an appointment with me for a remote service session when you are in the dome. |

@admin OK ty – i will have to see when i can schedule some time to go up to the dome, will be in touch.
Re UPS – i saw that diagram, but the UPS we have has no direct way to connect to the battery in that way. I have not managed to find a UPS with some kind of access to the battery unless we modify the casing. If there is a model you know and can recommend, please let me know. Only option i have found with a direct connect is to use something like this: Kemot PROsinus-800 URZ3409 Emergency Power Inverter Pure Sine Wave Charging Function 12V 230V 800VA/500W, Black : Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo with an external battery.
this one also looks good: Kemot PROsinus-1600 URZ3411 Emergency Power Inverter Pure Sine Wave Charging Function 12V 230V 3000VA/1600W, Black : Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo
Remember – you can use normal UPS – just connect yourself two wires to internal battery – for do this you will need open UPS box.
@admin Thank you for clarifying re UPS – that is what i thought must be the case, but i wanted to make sure before we start disassembling the UPS. Will be in touch shortly re meeting – if there are any steps you want me to try ahead of time to maybe avoid the need for meeting, please let me know.
